Shichifuku "Seven Lucky Gods" Sencha Teacup — White Porcelain
A 90 ml sencha teacup in Miyama's white porcelain, with the Seven Lucky Gods in in-glaze blue. Slip-cast in Mizunami, Gifu. Dishwasher safe.
A sencha teacup in white porcelain from Miyama's Shichifuku series, slip-cast in Mizunami, Gifu. The Seven Lucky Gods circle the cup in soft in-glaze cobalt — applied between glaze layers and fired so the figures feel less like decoration than like part of the porcelain itself. The form widens at the rim, the traditional sencha shape that lets the tea's colour and aroma read clearly.
The Seven Lucky Gods (七福神, Shichifukujin) sail together on Japan's Treasure Ship at New Year, each bringing a different blessing — wealth, longevity, prosperity, joy. Miyama renders them as playful karako (child) figures, a folk-art touch that gives the cup its quiet humour.
