We visited ISOBE in Okazaki, where one family has shaped warosoku by hand for about 300 years.

Inspired by the clip-on lamps once fitted along beams and thresholds in Japanese houses, this holder clamps onto a shelf or rail so you can put the flame precisely where you want it.

The grip is firm and won't mark most timber. The angled arm keeps the flame clear of the surface. Ideal for narrow entryways, work benches, and tea corners where a freestanding stand would take up space you don't have.

What is a kamoi?
A kamoi (鴨居) is the wooden lintel that runs above the sliding fusuma and shoji doors of a traditional Japanese house. This holder is designed to clip onto that beam quickly and securely, creating an instant light source from a distinctive height.

Packaging
