Documented

Made by Miyama in Mizunami, Gifu, a porcelain kiln in the Mino region that has refined thin, light tableware since 1977.

A small, perfectly round plate from Miyama's Casane Te series in the Sakura colourway (pale spring pink, the colour of the inside of a petal), with a faint cherry-blossom pattern set into the glaze. Slip-cast in Mino, Gifu, Japan, in the same white porcelain body used across the line, finished in Miyama's specialty Sakura glaze.

Casane Te (重ね手, "layered by hand") is built around pieces that read individually and assemble into a quiet composition when stacked or arranged together. This 11.5 cm plate is the small one in the family: it serves as a saucer for the Casane Te sencha cup, a rest for a wagashi sweet, or a perch for a small dish.

  • Material: White porcelain with Sakura-pink glaze
  • Decoration: Faint cherry-blossom pattern in the glaze
  • Dimensions: Ø 11.5 cm
  • Care: Hand wash only. Not dishwasher safe (the Sakura glaze is a specialty finish).
  • Origin: Made in Mino, Gifu, Japan
  • Maker: Miyama

The natural pairing is with the white Casane Te sencha cup (the cup sits on the plate as its saucer) and the Sakura dobin teapot. Also lovely on its own as a small dish for wagashi, single pieces of fruit, or a teabag rest.
