Our Quality
Many of our pieces are shaped by hand, one at a time. Others come from small workshops that pair traditional techniques with modern equipment. In either case, you may notice slight differences in glaze, color, or texture from one item to the next. In Japan, these variations are valued as part of each object's character.
Warosoku candles (ISOBE, Okazaki)
Each candle is unique. Slight variations from the maker add character, serving as gentle reminders of the human hands at work. On our hand-painted candles, differences in brushwork, hue, and petal shape are an inherent part of their value. The flame also provides the warm, gentle movement unique to Japanese candles.
Silk and paper flowers (Tsumami Kanzashi Ayano, Kaminoka)
Because each piece is folded entirely by hand, no two are exactly alike. Slight individual differences in shape, petal angle, and color are completely natural to the craft.
Porcelain (Miyama, Mizunami)
Some glazes are designed to move in the kiln. On the White Line series, a reactive cobalt blue melts and flows during firing, meaning no two cups carry the exact same pattern. This variation between pieces is the intended technique, not a flaw. We recommend handwashing most of our ceramics. Please check each product page for specific guidance on microwave and dishwasher use.
Why your piece may look slightly different from the photo
Because many of our pieces are finished by hand, small differences in color, shape, and glaze are entirely natural. They contribute to the character of the piece rather than acting as defects.
