We sat down with Ayano Fujii in her Matsudo workshop, where every petal is folded by hand.

Serika (千里花) is the everyday version of the workshop's signature pierced earring: small, round, and built from chirimen (Japanese crepe) using the centuries-old tsumami technique handed down from Edo-period kanzashi making. The chirimen weave gives each flower a slightly more matte, textured feel than the silk Tokyo Tokyo edition; the form is the same compact 15 mm circle that works under hair, over a high collar, or as a quiet point of color on a plain outfit.

Available in both pierced (titanium post) and clip-on versions, in four colorways spanning subdued ash blue, deep navy, peony pink, and white, designed to cross between kimono and Western dress, formal and casual, without overthinking it.

Made by Tsumami Kanzashi Ayano, the Matsudo workshop led by Ayano Fujii, a designated maker of Chiba Prefecture's traditional craft of Edo tsumami kanzashi.

Every order ships from Japan with a tracking number. In-stock items are dispatched within 1 to 3 business days. Made-to-order pieces take about one month to make, as noted on the product page. Once shipped, delivery usually takes 1 to 3 weeks depending on your location. See estimates by region.

Shipping cost
Free shipping on orders over around US$200. Smaller orders ship at a flat rate of ¥2,000 (around US$13).

United States: import duties are prepaid by us and included in the price, so there is nothing extra to pay on delivery. Other countries: your local customs may charge import duties and taxes on delivery, and these are paid by the recipient.

Packaging
Your order arrives intact, or we replace or refund it. Fragile pieces are wrapped in several protective layers. If anything arrives damaged, email a photo to support@j-doc.jp within 10 days of delivery.

Returns
