Tsumami Zaiku Brooch Yellow – Nanohana Rapeseed Flower Japanese Silk Pin
A silk nanohana (rapeseed flower, 菜の花) brooch, folded petal by petal in the centuries-old tsumami technique. In Japan, nanohana is the flower that signals the end of winter — entire fields of it turn the countryside yellow before the cherry trees bloom.
The design is built as a small ring of time: a closed bud at the center, open flowers around it, and seed pods on the outer ring — the bloom, the peak, and the next generation in one piece. That's the workshop's way of paying respect to nanohana not just as a pretty seasonal flower but as a plant that completes a whole cycle every year.
Made by Tsumami Kanzashi Ayano, the Matsudo workshop led by Ayano Fujii — a designated maker of Chiba Prefecture's traditional craft of Edo Tsumami Kanzashi.
