The "Tokyo Tokyo" edition of Serika (千里花) — the long-running pierced-earring style from Tsumami Kanzashi Ayano. Each flower is built from habutae silk squares, folded one petal at a time with tweezers in the tsumami technique handed down from Edo-period kanzashi making. Silk gives a soft natural luster that synthetics can't reproduce, and the finished earring is light enough to forget you're wearing.
This colorway is the official version produced for Tokyo Tokyo, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's brand for craft and design that represents the city. A small badge of Tokyo that you can wear with anything.
Made by Tsumami Kanzashi Ayano, the Matsudo workshop led by Ayano Fujii — a designated maker of Chiba Prefecture's traditional craft of Edo tsumami kanzashi and a LEXUS NEW TAKUMI PROJECT 2018 honoree. Pierced posts only (no clip-on version for this edition).
